Sex Salon Call For Organizing Committee
2020/2021
Deadline: August 31, 2020
The Sex Salon Series, housed at the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto, seeks members for its 2020 – 2021 Organizing Committee! The Sex Salon is a space to exchange ideas, make art and community, and create dialogue around queerness, queer theory, LGTQI+ organizing, and the development and advancement of critical sexuality studies. The Sex Salon is a monthly event series hosting eight events between September 2020 to May 2021. We seek to ensure that the Sex Salon will continue to be in service of queer and trans community in the GTA and will be committed to cultivating spaces that decenter the academy and trouble notions of legitimacy and authenticity in knowledge production.
Upper-year Undergraduate, Graduate, and Faculty from any University of Toronto department as well as those outside the academy are welcome to apply. We are seeking participation from a diverse and broad range of disciplines, training, and departments. In particular, this year we also seek individuals who have experience in managing social media accounts, and with experience in creating digital media.
The Organizing Committee will receive participant applications and help curate the monthly Sex Salon events for 2020/2021. Members will attend a planning session in early September and participate in the monthly Sex Salon to ensure success and community continuity. Committee members are also encouraged to consider chairing one of the Sex Salon events.
If interested, please email us a brief bio and CV at sds.sexsalon@gmail.com. Alternative forms of CV, such as through social media profiles, digital portfolios, websites are also welcome. In your email to us, please indicate your area of study, research interests, experience in community-based organizing, activism, or academic background. We look forward to hearing from you!
