To SDS faculty, staff, students, and community:
As everyone knows by now, all in-person class meetings have been cancelled through the rest of the term as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic. This is an anxious and uncertain time for all of us and your physical and mental health is our main priority. Not only are things changing quickly with our courses, and programs of study, we are also concerned about our friends and family. If you are feeling distressed, and require support, please use the resources available to you through either the University’s Employee and Family Assistance Program, (for all UT employees) and the 24/7 student counselling services (for all students) available on the U of T directory of health and community contacts. In an emergency, call 911.
The university continues to provide updates and FAQs here.
Even as we are being asked to “social distance” and, in many cases, self-isolate, this is a time for collective care and mutual aid. There are people who are already housebound and having a hard time making ends meet, getting needs met, and who need social support to survive. The following links are to documents, mutual aid tools, and suggestions for what we can do for each other and our communities to survive this together even when, temporarily, apart:
All of us at the Centre wish you well. Our office is closed for the time being, but we remain available via email. Our thoughts are with you and we remain a resource for you during this difficult time.
Take Good Care.
From everyone at the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies.
