Remembering Christopher Smith

Our hearts are heavy with the news of the passing of Christopher Smith—the Research Associate and Program Coordinator for the Queer and Trans Research Lab at the Bonham Centre. 

Christopher Smith: our co-worker, colleague, and beloved friend.  

He helped nurture the Queer and Trans Research Lab into existence with care, insight, and commitment.  

He was a mentor to our students, a serious scholar of Black queer studies, and a skilled community builder. 

He was also hilarious, a beautiful singer, a poet, a dancer, fiercely committed to social transformation and movement work, and he loved a glass of chardonnay.  

Words cannot adequately express our loss, nor our love. 

Rest in Power, friend; or, as another friend likes to say, “return if possible.”
