Elliott Tilleczek

Elliott Tilleczek (they/them) is a PhD Candidate in Anthropology (SCL) and Sexual Diversity Studies. Their SSHRC-funded dissertation project titled “Engaging Influential Politics: Queer and Trans Affect and Activism on Algorithmic Social Media” uses digital ethnographic methods to explore the ways that queer and trans activists interface with algorithmic social media products in their political projects. Elliott is also a writer and artist; they write in genres of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and work in portrait photography, videography, and podcasting. Elliott’s visual portfolio can be found here. Elliott co-created and co-hosts “Do You Queer What I Queer?” podcast, and they created and host the “QTcast” with the QTRL. Their recent co-authored article titled “Co-creating Real Fictional Characters: Virtual Ethnofabulation” uses experimental collaborative writing methods to generate fictional stories from ethnographic fieldwork.
