Allison Burgess is the Sexual & Gender Diversity Officer at the University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in Sociology & Equity Studies in Education and the Graduate Collaborative Program in Women & Gender Studies from OISE/UT. Her dissertation, “It’s Not A Parade, It’s A March!: Subjectivities, Spectatorship, and Contested Spaces of the Toronto Dyke March,” draws from queer and feminist poststructuralism, cultural geography literature on sexuality and space, and the history of sexuality in Canada, to explore how the Toronto Dyke March emerged in this particular time and place. Allison published articles and has taught courses at both U of T and Brock University.
