Rebecca Thorpe

Rebecca Thorpe, the Centre’s Business Officer, joined the SDS team in 2012 and has built a strong reputation in administrative positions across the University over the past 10 years. During her time as an SDS undergraduate, her academic research explored the different experiences of trans parents in Canadian and American education systems.  After graduation, she was invited to conduct graduate work at San Francisco State University’s National Sexuality Resource Center, where she investigated the educational potential of female pleasure in feminist pornography. Her most recent independent research focused on the relationship between trans experiences and new media, employing YouTube videos as pedagogical tools for players of popular video games to learn about gender variance. She is currently completing her Masters in Higher Education at OISE, specializing in Student Development and Student Services. She is also an avid road cyclist and cycling advocate, and has cycled all over Canada.
