Tina Fetner

Tina Fetner is Associate Professor of Sociology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Her 2008 book, How the Religious Right Shaped Lesbian and Gay Activism, examines the dynamic relationship between these two opposing movements over their thirty-year history and demonstrates that the growth of the lesbian and gay movement was influenced by this powerful foe.  Fetner’s current projects include analyses of youth participation in gay-straight alliances, same-sex marriage in Ontario, the religious right in Canada, and the Tea Party movement in the United States. Her work has been published in Social Problems, Journal of Homosexuality, Public Opinion Quarterly, and the American Journal of Political Science.
