Brock Hessel, 34, is an emerging theatre creator who, for the past two years, has been doing personal care work for a woman who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair.
Before the COVID-19 crisis, the woman had four people assisting her with showering, preparing meals and doing exercises, but that number has dwindled. “One is I think stuck somewhere,” said Hessel, “and one of the others refuses to come in right now, to protect themselves.”
