Mapping Sex Across the Globe: Valerie Traub

When

11/03/2020
7:15 PM - 9:00 PM

Please join us next next Wednesday, March 11, for this term’s final meeting of the Toronto Eighteenth-Century Group. In collaboration with the Toronto Group for Early Modern Studies and the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, I am very pleased to welcome Valerie Traub (Adrienne Rich Distinguished Professor of English & Woman’s Studies, University of Michigan). Valerie will be giving us a sneak preview of her current work on early modern sexuality, empire, and the history of cartography.

Our venue, as always, is the English Department Seminar Room (Room 616, Jackman Humanities Building, 170 St. George Street). All events begin at 7:30 pm. Please join us 15 minutes early for chat.

Local grad students in eighteenth-century studies have formed a reading group, which meets before each TECG talk to discuss a reading recommended by the speaker. New members are always welcome. For more information, please contact Michael Reid (mgb.reid@utoronto.ca).

For generous sponsorship of this year’s programme, I am grateful to Gale, publisher of EEBO, ECCO, the Burney Newspapers, and other primary source collections. Salvy Trojman, Gale’s Canadian manager, will be with us next Wednesday, and will be happy to help anyone with individual search questions after the talk.
