Nicole Ritchie is a Master of Museum Studies candidate in collaboration with Sexual Diversity Studies. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA with Distinction in Women’s Studies and Art History. She has worked extensively within the cultural heritage field, working at a variety of institutions including the Royal Alberta Museum, the Bata Shoe Museum, and Lando Art Gallery and Auctions. For the 2013/14 academic year, Nicole is an archive assistant at the Sexual Representation Collection, archiving and researching new acquisitions affiliated with the Feminist Porn Awards and Toronto’s Women and Trans Bathhouse. She is interested in studying the negotiation of difficult knowledge in exhibits, how feminist and queer theory can be utilized in the cultural heritage space, and how these spaces can provoke political engagement and social change.
