Lisa Aikman is a PhD student at the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies and in the Collaborative Specialization in Sexual Diversity Studies. She holds an MA in Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Toronto and an Hons.B.A. In Theatre Studies from York University. In her academic life, her work focuses on the aesthetic and ethical tensions that arise in queer and feminist documentary theatre, a theatre form that both requires and resists grand narratives and realist aesthetics. In her creative life, Lisa works as a dramaturg and a stage manager. She was a recipient of a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and is currently active as co-chair of the 2016 Festival of Original Theatre (FOOT 2016) and as co-president of the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies Graduate Student Union (CDTPSGSU).
