Zoe Whittall

Zoe Whittall’s most recent novel Holding Still for As Long as Possible (House of Anansi, 09/10) won a 2011 Lambda Literary Award and was short-listed for the ReLit Award and the American Library Association’s Barbara Gittings Literature award. Her critically-acclaimed first novel, Bottle Rocket Hearts, (Cormorant Books, 07) was named one of the top ten essential Canadian novels of the decade by CBC’s Canada Reads, a Globe & Mail Best Book of the Year, was translated into French and optioned for film. She has published three books of poetry, The Best Ten Minute of Your Life (McGilligan, 01), The Emily Valentine Poems (Snare, 06), and Precordial Thump (Exile, 08) and appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies. In 2003 she edited the short fiction anthology Geeks, Misfits & Outlaws. She has toured internationally and appeared on CBC Radio’s The Next Chapter, MTV, MuchMusic, Bravo and TVO to promote her work. Originally from South Durham, Quebec, she now works as a freelance journalist and creative writing teacher and consultant from her home in Toronto.
