Sex Salon Call for Proposals

The Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto invites you to participate in the Sex Salon Series!

About the Series:

The Sex Salon is a space to exchange ideas, make art and community, and create dialogue around gender and sexual diversity, 2SLGBTQIA+ organizing, solidarity, and coalition-building. We seek to ensure that the Sex Salon serves queer and trans communities in the Greater Toronto Area (and beyond) and will be committed to cultivating spaces that de-center the academy and challenge the idea of who can “produce” knowledge. For examples of past events, you can view a select archive online here.

Format:

Responding to disruptions brought on by COVID-19, Sex Salon is a digital event series taking place between November 2020 and June 2021. We welcome a variety of event formats, including:

• Artist talks

• Community roundtables

• Panels

• Workshops

• Film screenings

• Academic presentations

Presentation formats that are community-centered are encouraged!

Given that the Series will be held online, we are encouraging submissions from across Canada. We are prioritizing QTBIPOC folks, community organizers, under/graduate students, grassroots collectives and artists, to contribute to the Series. We may be able to offer a small honorarium to presenters, especially those who would require this to participate.

To submit:

Please fill out this short online form by October 30, 2020.

If the form presents a barrier, feel free to get in touch with the Committee directly by email at sds.sexsalon@gmail.com

We will be taking some time to review submissions, and can get back to you by Nov 16.
