Register for It’s Time To Choose Love: A 6-Week Course on Meditation and Somatics for QTBIPOCs

Are you a queer or trans BIPOC? Have you been struggling with how to balance self-love with care for others in these intense and polarizing political times? Are you looking for a gentle space to develop meditative self-care skills? Join author and community worker Kai Cheng Thom and the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies in this six-week meditation program on compassion and self-love. This free course will guide participants through a range of trauma-informed body-based and meditation strategies exploring the choice to love oneself and others at the same time. Experienced meditators and beginners welcome.

DISCLAIMER: This course does not comprise mental health treatment, nor is it meant to replace such treatment. Kai Cheng Thom is not currently a registered mental health professional. Participants who may be struggling with mental health diagnoses or challenges are advised to consult an appropriate health professional before joining.

Registration is first-come first-served; 5 spots are reserved for community members who are not UofT students. University of Toronto students, please register using your utoronto emails and select the appropriate registration option.

Bio: Kai Cheng Thom is a trans writer, performer, community worker, lasagna lover, and wicked witch, as well as a Fellow at the Bonham Centre. Her written work has explored the topics of violence, trauma, compassion, and community responses to conflict, among others. A somatic educator, Kai Cheng has spent many years studying various health and wellness modalities. She is currently completing the 100-hour meditation teacher program at Hoame meditation studio, and has recently started a 300-hour meditation teacher training at Yoga & Meditation Centre Calgary.
