SUMMARY:October Sex Salon: Queerspawn in Queer Communities
DESCRIPTION:On October 26th\, from 5:00-7:00pm\, join the Sex Salon for a w
 orkshop led by Sadie Epstein-Fine that discusses how queer and trans commu
 nity spaces and events can be more inclusive of queerspawn (a person with 
 one or more LGBTQ2+ parent/caregiver). Throughout the workshop there will 
 be a reading of excerpts from "Spawning Generation: Rants and Reflections 
 on Growing Up with LGBTQ+ Parents" co-edited by Sadie Epstein-Fine and Mak
 eda Zook. We will discuss how queerspawn are community bridge builders and
  queer and trans generational knowledge keepers. This workshop will invite
  participants to think about why it is important to welcome queerspawn int
 o queer and trans spaces and how to keep queerspawn in community once they
  are adults.\n\nRegister on Eventbrite for this in-person event\, held at 
 Room UC240 in University College.\n\nSpeaker Bio:\n\nSadie Epstein-Fine (t
 hey/them) is a storyteller who works to spotlight equity seeking voices\, 
 beginning with the communities they are a part of. They do a lot of art an
 d advocacy centering queer\, trans and queerspawn (people with 2LGBTQ+ par
 ents) voices. In 2018 they edited and wrote a piece in Spawning Generation
 s: Rants and Reflection on Growing up with LGBTQ+ Parents\, published by D
 emeter Press. Spawning Generations was nominated for LAMBDA Literary and F
 orward Indies awards and was named one of the top 10 book of 2018 by NOW M
 agazine. In late 2022 Sadie is publishing Eraser (Playwrights Canada Press
 )\, a play for young audiences with themes of queerness\, immigration\, de
 ath\, disability\, racism and belonging\, which they co-wrote with seven o
 ther theatre artists. They are also publishing Uncle Gabe is Having a Baby
  (Rebel Mountain Press)\, a children's book about trans pregnancy\, in 202
 3. Sadie is currently developing two plays: Sugar Plum\, a theatre-dance p
 iece\, about the experience of growing up as a queer ballet dancer\, in re
 sidence at Nightwood Theatre\; and Other Daughter(s)\, a queering of Fiddl
 er on the Roof\, first developed in the MIles Nadal Jewish Community Centr
 e's queer and trans incubator. This past June Sadie directed Little Mis(s)
 gender by Teiya Kasahara\, the 21-22 Artist in Residence at the Bonham Cen
 tre Queer and Trans Research Lab.\n\nLocation Details:\n\nSex Salon is now
  returning to in-person events. The location of this event is room UC240 l
 ocated at University College (15 King's College Circle). The building and 
 surrounding area is under construction. We will have volunteers at major e
 ntrance points to assist participants to find the event location. There wi
 ll also be some signage to assist with directions.\n\nAccessibility:\n\n 	
 While there is no mandatory mask requirement we highly encourage participa
