A resource for service providers to help them assist Queer Indigenous community members who have survived violence.

The event will be hosted by Alec Butler and Reilly Jones (bios below).

Alec Butler (He/Him, They/Them) is a Two-Spirit, Non-binary activist and award winning playwright, author and filmmaker. Author of the queer novella Rough Paradise which was recently published in Europe, the plays Black Friday? (Nominated for the Governor General’s Award), Medusa Rising, Cradle Pin and Shakedown and director of the films Misadventures of Pussy Boy, Trans Cabaret, Audrey’s Beard and My Friend Brindley. Butler is also a scholar in Indigenous Studies, their research focuses on Two-Spirit Queer Indigenous Literatures.
Alec is of Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) and settler (French/Irish) descent originally from Unama’ki (Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia).

Reilly Jones (She/Her) is a white settler. She is the co-coordinator of the External Education team at the University of Toronto Sexual Education Centre, and a graduate student in public health. Her professional background is in the sexual and reproductive rights of people living with HIV, refugee immigration law, epidemiology, and sexual health education. She also enjoys cooking, playing soccer, and scheduling herself so tightly that she has to run between appointments.
