Human Rights Panel: Beyond Queer Politics

The important contributions of women organizing at the crossroads of identity and experience are often invisible. This panel will honour that work, celebrate the victories and highlight the need to nurture and sustain social justice organizing.

Moderated by Debbie Douglas, social action and justice activist and Executive Director of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, this panel features Akio Maroon, Board Chair at Maggie’s–Toronto Sex Workers’ Action Project; Rachel Lauren Clark, blogger and human rights activist; Notisha Massaquoi, global women’s health care advocate and Executive Director of Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre; Jill Andrew, award-winning columnist, speaker, body image advocate co-founder of Body Confidence Canada Awards (BCCAs) currently fighting to include size discrimination as a protected ground in our Ontario Human Rights Code, and Becky McFarlane, The 519’s Senior Director, Programs and Community Services.
